Hello everyone. I hope you are all enjoying the summer. Be sure to find time for a vacation, rest and relaxation before the busy fall months began. We had a great turn out at the general meeting. Thank you all your meeting attendance, education, volunteerism and support to the AfAHC. We all do great work to educate and support our communities, and it’s great to learn and share information. If you missed the meeting you can see the attached amended chat and fliers. You may also can go to new.afahchouston.org to find information from past meetings and future events. Most of the notes, highlights, flyers and events will be posted on the website. If you want to add anything or forgot to share something please let us know.

Research Study for Black Teens and Parents
We are looking for teens (age 14-18) and one of their parents in families who identify as Black or African American to study how experiences with discrimination impact mental health and family communication. By filling out simple nightly surveys, families will have the opportunity to earn up to $250 in the form of Tango e-gift cards which can be redeemed at over 1,000 retailers and restaurants (e.g., Target, AMC, Instacart, Amazon, Apple) and promote teen-parent bonding for the 2 weeks of the study! This research has been approved by the UH Institutional Review Board.
