The Community Assistance Program is a designed to provide small financial grants to residents of Greater Houston. This program aims to address the social issues that effect our health and create barriers to achieving overall ideal health.
CHOP IT UP, Coordinated Health Opportunities Providing Interactions and Tools Using Peers, program embodies a flexible and diverse approach to addressing health disparities within the African American community across the Greater Houston area.

The African American Health Coalition is a nonprofit organization located in Houston, Texas, with over 30 years of commitment to community service. Our mission is to promote healthy lifestyles and cultivate vibrant communities for individuals of African descent, while also welcoming participation, collaboration, and support from people of all races and ethnicities.
Our members possess expertise in community health education and advocacy. The Coalition offers the opportunity to conduct and facilitate training seminars for health professionals, community health workers, and the general public.

We’re proud to highlight a virtual summit from one of our partners, HealthStack, powered by AfroTech, the largest community for Black technologists in the world, and their hosting a Free Virtual Summit focused on how healthcare leaders are responsibly advancing telehealth, AI, and equity-driven innovation. After reviewing the program, we see strong alignment with the clinical, operational, and policy priorities our members continue to navigate.
